Lovely Pwllheli
This bustling coastal town is located at the entrance to the peninsula, which is itself protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pwllheli is the ideal location from which to explore this northwest corner of Wales, where Welsh is still widely spoken. The Llyn’s Coastal Path is 91 miles long, extending from nearby Porthmadog to Caernarfon on the north coast of the peninsula. This path forms part of the new Wales Coastal Path, 870 miles which runs round the entire Welsh coast.
Amazing Abersoch
Originally a small fishing village, Abersoch has become a mecca for the ‘yacht-set’ weekenders with its great beaches and clear waters offering numerous water-sports, diving and fishing, with horse riding and an immaculate golf course all nearby. Arguably, its biggest attraction is its ‘micro-climate’, this being attributed to its location on the Llyn, surrounded by the sea on three sides and its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The harbour beach is great for crabbing and watching the boats being taken out to sea. The larger ‘town’ beach is sandy and gently sloping flanked by some of the most expensive beach huts in Wales. There are a couple of beach cafes which offer refreshments.
